Junior Blasters is a fun and fast program, completed in a maximum of 60 minutes. All equipment is supplied and each participant receives a participant pack comprising a bat, ball, shirt and bucket hat so kids can practice their skills during the program and at home with family and friends.
The Junior Blaster program is designed for parents to get involved and spend some quality time with their child learning the skills of cricket. Parents involvement is a huge determinant of participant enjoyment, skill progression and achievement. The ‘Blast Crew’ has been developed to provide clarity and options for parents and volunteers to get involved.
The Blast Crew allows Junior Blasters to play in small groups, known as Blast Squads, and gives kids the opportunity to play with their parents & supporters.
There are three distinct roles in the Blast Crew, Blast Coordinator and Blast Captains and Blast Helpers
BLAST COORDINATOR (Usually a Club Volunteer) – 1 per Junior Blasters program
A Blast Coordinator is an organizational whizz! They manage the program administration, liaise with the local cricket club, and organize the Blast Squads, Captains & Crew.
They are responsible for communicating the program information and coordinate session set up and equipment.
BLAST CAPTAINS (Can be club volunteers or parents) - 1 per Blast Squad
• Manage their Blast Squad and facilitate activities and games.
• Encourage Blast Crew participation.
• Assist Blast Coordinator.
BLAST CREW (volunteers/parents) – As many as possible
• Help as little or as much as they would like
• Be involved in partner activities
• Parent vs participant activities
During the participant registration, parents are asked which role they are interested in taking on. This information is available to the Blast Coordinator who develops the Blast Crew
